Moonlit Eyelids

My memory returns, and I see you — you are every image it holds.  
I search within it for other pictures, but find none,  
for you are the beautiful thing my memory loves to keep.  

When I close my eyes, I see you —  
as if your moonlit face were imprinted upon my eyelids.  
Even when my eyes are open, they refuse to see anything but you.  

In that moment, I realize you have possessed everything within me,  
despite the weight of pain that dwells in my heart —  
a heart where only love remains.  

I cannot imagine anything filling your place,  
nor any image replacing yours.  
I have given all I could to own my heart  
and to plant my love within yours,  
but your heart has not felt the depth of love inside me.  

So forgive my impulsiveness and my jealousy —  
they are flames kindled by the love you have awakened in me.
